The Victoria solar feed in tariff works like this: (Net Metered)
A homeowner installs the maximum allowable PV system size (5kWp)
The homeowner pays nothing for energy he uses which is displaced by the system.
The utility doesn't pay the homeowner for energy produced by the system until it surpasses the homeowners actual usage.
Excess energy is sold to the utility at 60 cents per kWh.
This plan lasts for 15 years.
And while it is an effort to at least appear like the Victorian Legislature is actually making an effort to promote alternative energy, the system is less effective than using a champagne glass as a hammer. Maybe posing as an actual feed in tariff policy is more important than actually being one. Thumbs down does not suffice for this blatantly ineffective program. Only a facepalm of the highest magnitude can physically express the frustration properly.
