Kenya has no feed in tariff. While the country is sitting in one of the most solar rich regions in the world, it would at least make sense to have a net metering program in place. Kenya is continuously under fire for environmental destruction of its natural habitats and the resource rich country likes to maintain control of its resources in the hands of very few people - leading to an extremely large portion of the population living in severe poverty. It comes as no surprise that the prices for solar electricity are non-existent. However there are feed in tariffs for biomass, small hydro, and wind power, these technologies are more easily controlled by a central producer with the capital required to initialize the investment - solar energy is the most available to the public and most widespread and available of all the renewable options, and therefore left out of the equation.
