Ireland has finally introduced a feed in tariff for renewable energy. This new "feed in tariff" is a net metered program for "micro-generation" installations. That basically means that the utilities will only pay for energy which is produced in excess of what the homeowner uses, and the word "micro-generation" is, as of yet, not defined. Could it mean that installations are limited to 5kWp? Or 10kWp? Or 1kWp?
No one knows!
That's all part of the joke.
What is even funnier is that the one country in the world that is the most closely associated with the color "green" is enacting legislation which is most certainly too weak to be considered green. Maybe yellow, or blue, a constituent color of green, but not "green".
No thumbs at all for Ireland's feed in tariff policy, a pie in the face is actually more appropriate.
