Demark is one of the world leaders in renewable energies, not necessarily in actual production, but in % of renewable energy per capita. While this is a beautiful thing, the absence of a solar feed in tariff hurts our brains. Denmark’s solar feed in policy consists only of net metering - which means that the owner of a solar system is only credited the amount of energy that is produced toward their power bill.

Perhaps there is nothing sinister behind this type of scheme being the only scheme available, but if one uses the imagination properly, it becomes clear that utility companies like to be in control of the energy produced in their regions, and large scale wind plants are not exactly an investment within reach of individuals without millions of dollars to place into investment ventures.

That being said, it is perhaps a better choice to rate Denmark with ambivalence and start looking at other markets where solar energy is actually a profitable form of energy for investors and private citizens. However, since we here at solarfeedintariff.net dislike the absence of a feed in tariff more than we detest a poorly executed feed in tariff, we would like to award Denmark two thumbs down, for completely ignoring a critical piece of the renewable energy mix.

In addition to our thumbs down, we would like to present Denmark with a menacing glare for the sake of humorous blasphemy.

Denmark   No Feed in Tariff
<6kWp Net Metering Energy production only offsets energy costs.
