The UK has been many things throughout history: Empire, World Power, Innovative, Progressive, etc... But SUNNY is not one of those things.
The feed in tariffs applied in the UK are sorely inadequate to encourage large amounts of investment dollars to flow into the UK solar market. If lawmakers were actually serious about pushing a renewable energy policy, they would hike this rate by about 20% and redirect subsidies from the coal and nuclear industries to their fledgling renewable energy industry. Their efforts would pay for themselves many times over. The UK's efforts are honorable, but half-hearted, it is like watching a depressed and tranquilized basset hound chase its own tail.

You can do better than that UK. For Darwin's sake, the French are beating you!
